Electric power steering now authorized for rally vehicles by the FFSA

After several years of battling, the FFSA has finally authorized the installation of electric power steering on rally cars.

In order to reach a consensus and to balance the races between vehicles equipped with electric power steering and those without, the FFSA has finally allowed the installation of electric power steering on vehicles not originally equipped with it, ensuring fairness across a wide range of special stages. Many VHRS and VHC cars were originally unequipped and found themselves penalized on certain types of courses, especially on winding or endurance tracks. Power steering provides ease and prevents fatigue in endurance races.
Recently, several vehicles competing in the Rallye Mont Blanc or Monte Carlo Rally have been equipped with electric power steering, leading to improved lap times and driving skills for the drivers.
